10 food trends your Kids will want to follow!
Food Trends aren’t just for kids anymore. Healthy eating habits have taken over the playground and kids can’t wait to eat their healthy snacks!
Feeding children the right kind of nutrition is getting more important with our ever changing lifestyles. It is not only the adults that need to pay attention to what goes into their systems. However, getting kids to eat all the required food groups is quite a task considering not all flavours suit every palate and not all the food is really delicious. Kids need to be taught that not all healthy food is boring and bland.
So, we looked up a few really cool food trends that would suit kids as well and we would love to see some of you give it a try!
Sea Vegetables
Sea Vegetables, an important food in Asian Diets, are now becoming more popular around the worlds. They are an excellent source of Iodine, Manganese, Vitamin C & B2. It is not easy to get kids to eat these, however you can start with baked seaweed with salt and pepper which tastes really good and the kids could eat it as chips.
Wholegrain Breads
Wholegrains are becoming a huge hit with kids. You see wholewheat and multigrain variants with all kinds of bread bases used for pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and more. Another great alternative, as a lighter snack, is baked multigrain chips with their favorite curd or veggie dips. Make sure your chips are low on oil and filled with healthy grains.
DIY Salads
Make weekday nights an occasion. Pick one day of the week as a ‘DIY Night’ and create a Salad Bar for your entire family. You could have various veggies and fruits of their choice cut up with a few options of sauces. They can mix and match according to their tastes. Yes, this may not get them to willingly eat the broccoli but, it instills the importance of healthy eating. Also, it is one day you can take off from all the cooking!
Ethnic Inspired Dishes
Kids today come back with a lot of stories of everything they learn at school. They are very fascinated with different countries, states and their cultures. A new way to cultivate healthy eating is to make healthy food from different ethnic origins. For example, you could buy some Baked Bhakarwadi (Maharashtrian) or some light Tapas filled with veggies (Spanish).
Healthy Desserts
Ever heard of chocolate avocado mousse? Avocados are loaded in good fat and are great for brain function in kids. Raw Cocoa is full of antioxidants and minerals. Throw in a teaspoon of pomegranate powder to boost the nutrients even more. This is a great dessert for kids and maybe you don’t even have to tell them what it’s made of ;).
We hope this helps you get your child’s nutrition levels to boost. We would love to hear if you tried these and how they worked for you! You can leave your response in our comments section or Facebook page!
