Celebrate a hearty and healthy Holi with these guilt free recipes!

Indian festivals are as synonymous with bright colors as they are with tasty food. Colorful and diverse are two words that define us Indians and the food we eat. Does seeing the words colorful and diverse together strike a chord with you? Does it remind you of a specific Indian festival too?
Is it the festival full of colors, which is usually coupled with food items drenched in sugar and ghee? We thought of it too!? After all the Holi is just around the corner.

Like always we’ve found a way to make Holi better for you. How, you ask? We’ve curated a list of healthy and tasty Holi recipes, that will make the festival 10 times better for you! Read on to know more:

1. Paani Puri

Who doesn’t love Paani Puris? We’ve found a way to make this street side staple a super healthy option! Switch to DIP Baked Pani Puris from your normal deep fried alternatives. Baking cuts out all the empty calories that deep frying brings, which makes it super healthy and tasty option. Grind together mint leaves, coriander leaves, raw mango, chilies and black salt. Water it down with cold water and paani puri masala, boil some potatoes and your paani puri platter is ready!

2. Thandai

Holi is synonymous with Thandai. The cold, full of dried fruits milk beverage is the perfect drink for our hot summers. Switch to low calorie or almond milk and stevia instead of sugar and your tall glass of Thandai is ready.

3. Fruit-sickles

Popsicles are all the rage these days, and we’re not complaining. So we racked our brains in the thinking room and came up with this awesome creation- fruit-sickles! Blend together your favorite seasonal fruit with a bit of sugar/stevia and lime juice, pop them in to Popsicle mould and let them freeze. Get one out every time you want a boost of taste and health in the summer heat. You can also use different fruits to create a full range of colored fruit-sickles!

4. Muthia Chaat

Our team seems to love anything related to street food. So on our quest to come up with healthy alternatives, we’ve invented a recipe that is worth its weight in gold. All you need is a pack of DIP Baked Methi Muthia, you need to break the muthia in to bite sized pieces, a chopped onion, tomato and boiled potato. Carefully put together your pieces of muthia, sprinkle generously with the chopped veggies. Sprinkle a generous serving of sev. Add a good amount of sweet and spicy chutney. Lastly, sprinkle some chaat masala, coriander leaves and lime juice. Sit back and enjoy this place of delicious goodness without an inch of guilt.

5. Gujjiya

A sweet that has its own version in every state of India. Whether its karanji in Maharashtra or gujiya in the north, this sweet deep fried dumpling is a Holi must have on every foodies’ list.
You probably crave it too, so we’ve come up with a recipe for you. Instead of Maida,  switch to multi grain flour to make your dumpling casing, add a little bit of semolina into the mixture for added texture.

Combine desiccated coconut, jaggery and cardamom powder to make the sweet filling for the dumpling. Using a tablespoon, carefully fill each dough casing and bind the edges to ensure there is no leakage. Brush some ghee onto each dumpling and bake them till they’re perfectly golden. Enjoy your sweet morsel on the most colorful festival in the world!
