Pasta recipes for any time of the day

Pasta is a dish loved by everyone. Its simplicity makes it a beloved food across the globe. Serve it with a side of croutons or on its own and it remains a solid dish that can be consumed at any time. Here are some quick pasta recipes that you can prepare in just 25 minutes.

Masala Pasta
  • 2 cups of pasta
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • 3 cloves of finely chopped garlic
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon coriander leaves
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder or pav bhaji masala
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup pureed tomatoes
  • 2 finely chopped carrots
  • ½ cup green peas
  • 1 chopped capsicum
To prepare the pasta boil approximately 4 cups of water in a large pot. Once the water starts boiling, add the pasta to the pot and sprinkle it with salt. Allow the pasta to boil and salt to mix thoroughly. Cook your pasta al dente, for about 8 to 12 minutes and proceed to drain the excess water. In a fresh pan heat up a tablespoon of olive oil. Add cumin, finely chopped garlic and onion into the pan. Fry the chopped onion until it turns pink. Next, it is time to add the chopped capsicum, carrots and green peas, allow them to fry for about 2 minutes. Add the tomato puree and let it mix with the veggies. Add coriander leaves, red chilli powder and masala powder and stir it well. Take your pan off the gas and remove your pasta sauce onto a fresh plate. Mix the cooked pasta with sauce and add one tablespoon of olive oil. Sprinkle coriander leaves on top and serve while hot.

Tomato basil tortellini
  • 1 pack of frozen cheese tortellini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound diced chicken
  • 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 cups heavy whipped cream
  • ½ cup shredded italian cheese blend
  • ⅓ cup of chopped fresh basil
  • 1 seeded and finely chopped habanero pepper
  • 1 can of fire-roasted and diced tomatoes
For pasta preparation, follow the steps mentioned above. To prepare the sauce, heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a dutch oven. Add chicken, italian seasoning and salt and pepper to the pan and allow it to sauté for 5 minutes. Remove the chicken into a separate utensil and set it aside. Add another tablespoon of olive oil to the dutch oven and use it to sauté onion, habanero pepper, garlic and the remaining italian seasoning. Empty the can of roasted and diced tomatoes and let it cook for 2 minutes. Now it is time to add the whipped cream. Stir the mixture constantly while adding the whipped cream to allow it to mix well. Finally, add the tortellini, chicken, cheese and pasta to the mixture. Garnish with basil and serve alongside homemade croutons to add some crunch to the mix!

Broccoli and cheese pasta

  • 2 cups pasta, cooked and drained
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Parmesan cheese
Cut the broccoli into bite-sized pieces, separating the stem and the flower. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and butter to a skillet and allow it to heat up. Sauté broccoli, garlic, pepper and cayenne pepper on the skillet for 10 minutes. Place the pasta that has already been prepared in a separate serving dish.
